The Alive site is a way to show people what’s happening at Oklahoma Wesleyan University. Our students, staff, faculty, alumni and OKWU parents are the ones that keep this site up-to-date. Whenever they have something to say, they send a quick twitter text to the Alive site and everyone is updated.
How to get Started
If you are ready to get the full Twitter experience and join in the fun, as well, as get some good info about what’s going on at OWU on the web or even sent directly on your phone, then you want to read and do the following:
First, read this web page with a good overview of how to use Twitter and great instructions as to how to set up your account.
Youtube video intro to Twitter
Second, if you haven’t done it already join already! Go to Twitter.com and join

Updating the Alive website
If you’re an OKWU student, staff member, faculty, alumni or OKWU parents, please follow Marci Piper on Twitter to gain access to the site. Here’s what you need to do:
1. Check out Twitter.com and join (see instructions above)
2. Find Marci Piper on Twitter and ask to follow
3. You receive confirmation that you have access
Once someone has given you access to update the website, you can begin updating the website by doing the following:
d owu bball:this is an amazing game
How we read that is:
- d = this is a direct message to someone
- owu = this is the someone I’m trying to talk directly with
- bball: = that is the category and we stop reading the category when we see the ”:” sign. By giving us this category, we are able to organize messages into different (unlimited) categories. If no category is provided, it still gets posted to the website but isn’t assigned to a category.
- this is an amazing game = this is your full message. People will only see this message and also know who sent it. So if I was the person that sent the message, the alive website should show that schaapy said it.
